五月の連休も終わりに近づいていた。
The end of the May long weekend was approaching.
山に登るつもりだったが、天気が悪くて諦めた。
I had planned to climb a mountain, but the bad weather made me give up.
代わりに、友達とバーベキューをすることになった。
Instead, I decided to have a barbecue with my friends.
スーパーで肉や野菜を買って、公園に向かった。
I bought meat and vegetables at the supermarket and headed to the park.
ところが、公園はもう満員で、場所を確保するのが大変だった。
However, the park was already full, and it was difficult to find a spot.
しばらく歩いて、ようやく良さそうな場所を見つけた。
After walking for a while, we finally found a good spot.
バーベキューを始めたとたん、雨が降り始めた。
Just as we started the barbecue, it started raining.
一瞬、がっかりしたが、すぐに雨宿りをする場所を見つけた。
I was disappointed for a moment, but we quickly found a place to take shelter from the rain.
雨が止むまで、カードゲームやおしゃべりをして過ごした。
We passed the time playing card games and chatting until the rain stopped.
雨が上がった後、バーベキューを再開した。
After the rain stopped, we resumed the barbecue.
肉や野菜は美味しくて、雨のおかげで、涼しい気候で食べられた。
The meat and vegetables were delicious, and thanks to the rain, we could eat in a cool climate.
日が暮れて、帰ることになった。
As the sun set, it was time to go home.
バーベキューの最後に、友達と記念撮影をした。
As a final touch to the barbecue, we took a commemorative photo with our friends.
雨で予定が台無しになったけど、思い出に残る連休の終わりになった。
Although our plans were ruined by the rain, it turned out to be a memorable end to the long weekend.
